The Arab Board of Medical Specializations was founded in Kuwait in 1978 by a decision of the Council of Arab Health Ministers of the Arab League.
The first session of the newly established Board was held on January 2, 1979 at which time basic guidelines and the structure of the Board were determined.
Headquarters are in Damascus, Syrian Arab Republic.
It is a non-profit organization.
It aims to improve the health system in the Arab countries by raising the scientific level of medical practice in the different specialties. It also aims to improve performance and professionnal development and promote the competencies in the field of health.
